We had a 28-year old GE microwave we really liked so we went with the JVM6175DKWW as a replacement. It turns out (at least for us) the sensor aspect really helps cook foods properly. For example, baked potatoes always cook perfectly! I installed the unit mostly myself but used help getting it up on the wall and in place. The controls operate nearly identical to our old unit so there has been little learning curve. We've used it a couple of weeks now and have no real complaints but it would be nice if we could dim the display sometimes.

We installed this ourselves when our old one died. Installation was fairly simple with two people. We were happy we could get a new microwave the same size as our old one so it fit the space. Also glad we found one in white. The capacity is good. It took a little bit to learn the new controls but they are pretty intuitive. I miss my rice button though! We were used to a pizza button, but reheat plate seems to work ok. The sensor feature was new to us but seems to be pretty accurate.

I had replaced a GE Microwave Oven over the range that had 1.4 CuFt scape and nhad great controld and I had purchased in 1998 that lasted me until January 2026. This current Microwave Oven OTR that I purchased in January 2026 had to be replaced after 3 days becuase the door glass had some sort of defect. Home Depot took care of it because I had purchased with installation and delivery. Ge products are good but not as good as used to be. I have a GE gas Range that I has also purchased in 1998 and it has seen it days but I am thinking of replacing it. GE products used to have a reputation for long service life, and while GE still makes solid appliances, many owners feel that newer models aren™€™t built quite to the same long-lasting standards as older ones.

the round plate that rotates comes off its place too easily. I'M short so I have to get a footstool to stand on so I can see to replace it. One should be told before installation that the wattage is less than your former microwave. Most frozen items instructions call for a higher wattage. One doesn't get the instructions until after a $200 installation. So for $400 plus I have a new microwave that I do not like as well as mu Maytag.

The door on this model was way thicker than the door that it replaced , had to simm the back wall out 1.25" so door would open. ( was hitting the cabinet ) The mounting bracket on this model is very flimsy . I build my own mounting bracket. The microwave it self is wonderful

The lights overhead heat to the point of burning you. So we cannot use . Also the turntable is flimsy and the glass comes off the track. I would not recommend this appliance to anyone.?I really want it replaced. We had to pay an electrician to install it. He dented it under neath. This was a very bad experience buying this item.

Poor Design on Top Vent Openings

I recently purchased and installed this GE over-the-range microwave. After installation, I immediately noticed that the top of the unit has large open vent holes right where the cabinet shelving above extends. This creates a real problem ™€" if something small falls out of the overhead cabinet, it can drop directly into these openings. Retrieving it would be nearly impossible and very frustrating. The 20+ year old GE microwave that this replaced had a solid enclosed top, which completely avoided this issue. It just seems like a silly and avoidable design flaw. Had I known this before purchasing, I would not have chosen this model.

It replaced a 25 year old GE microwave. Adequate capacity. Standard flat push tabs. Instructions are built in as you use it. Installed by 2 professionals. Adequate interior and exterior lighting. Boxy and very plain. Not as classy as the old one. It is a bit quieter. Would buy again.

I was very disappointed that the product did not come with the necessary tools to use the microwave in rotation cycle. In particular the glass plate that sits on top of the wired product with wheels . This allows a product to move in a circle as it™€™s being cooked.
