The touchpad is arrayed so that it is very easy to accidentally hit ™€œfan™€ or ™€œlight™€ when opening/closing the door. It is then necessary to go through each setting™€"slowly™€"to turn off the fan or light function. Conversely, when the cook time is up, it is necessary to press ™€œstop/cancel™€ to get the screen back to its normal reading. These are tedious extra steps, and make it a chore to use the microwave (which is basically for convenience). Also, and this might be an installation vs a mechanical problem, we randomly (~8 times over the past two months since installation) get a message that the microwave has lost its connection and have to go through a reset process. As no other technology in the house is affected, it seems like the issue is w/the microwave.

The microwave works great, has good down lights , and good exhaust fan. The sleek view is great. But the capacity is awesome, I can fit two plates, and I love the fact that it does not have that annoying rotating plate others have. It heats eavenly too.

I have had this microwave for about 6 months. I was concerned that it did not have a turntable for even heating. However, this microwave works better than any previous microwave that had a turntable! Love the quick 30 second, 1 minute and 5 minute timing buttons on the exterior of the unit. I have been very pleased with its performance.

I absolutely love this cabinet depth microwave from Kitchen Aid. It looks sleek and elegant with my cabinets. I didn™€™t want a big ol™€™ microwave sticking way out past the front of my cabinets. Another nice feature is the control panel is inside the door. The capacity is slightly smaller but it is certainly big enough for what I use it for. It is high wattage and there is no turntable so everything cooks evenly with surrounding airflow. The surrounding airflow makes this microwave very efficient and heats food faster

My over the range Kitchen Aid microwave is efficient in that it heats, warms, and cooks to perfection. In addition, the ventilation system is perfect for removing smells as it vents out to the charcoal and grease filters. The capacity is just right for two or three dishes. I use the Anyday glass cooking utensils and the use of time and power settings makes the integration of the microwave and its features efficient. And the ergonomics are exact in that the microwave functions best for my lifestyle. It is a handsome kitchen appliance also.

This unit looks Great, Has enough capacity for us, ergonomically it sits a little high for my 4'11" wife. It seams to heat fine so I assume it is efficient and it integrated well with my cabinets. was easy for myself to install and works great..................when it works. It started acting up after 3 months by shutting down after 8 seconds and giving a code related to the fan not opening. Then it would work again. After a month of on/off failure we contacted warranty repair and of course it would not do it while they were here. After getting bombarded with offers from KitchenAid to buy the extended warranties we did. It started to work fine and now about 12 months later it started doing it again but now it will do it 8 or nine times in a row. I have not called the warranty dept. yet but I will.

We love the space saved by this unit. We can use our pressure canner on the range now, and it is handy for other reasons. The heating is not very even, and we often end up moving things half way through the process, but it's not much different than those with a turn table. We have to be careful not to scorch things on the bottom of dishes. A disappointing flaw is in the sound module. When on it's highest sound level, if can barely be heard, if at all. Technicians replaced the main control board three times, and all were the same. Kitchen Aid has done nothing to correct the problem. We cannot use the timer, or be notified when something is finished cooking. I checked in stores with this model plugged in, and they were all also silent. We almost returned it for a different model.

We wanted a new look and would have loved to eliminate the microwave over the range but it required too much extra design and construction for the renovation we were doing. Saw this as a good alternative. Love the streamlined look of the flush profile. We also were not sure how we would feel about the controls being behind the door but once you get used to it, it actually is quite nice not having all the buttons front and center. Works well and we don™€™t miss the turntable.

Expensive looking for a dependable brand

This was an unexpected surprise as I purchased this microwave on clearance at Home Depot when I desperately needed to replace my microwave I had not researched this microwave at all so I didn™€™t know anything when I bought it. So far after about one year of use, I love the microwave. I thought I would not like that. It didn™€™t have a turntable, but it™€™s so much easier to clean without it. I love the options of melting and soft, softening butter. They actually work. I™€™ve also used it to cook potatoes and it cooks great along with steaming vegetables. The design works well with any kitchen, but looks great in my kitchen and looks expensive. In fact several people have commented on my microwave one because it doesn™€™t have the turntable and two because it looks really nice. This microwave heats quickly and has lots of space without looking huge inside.

We were honestly a bit skeptical about the hidden control panel. While it adds to the very sleek and modern look, we thought it would be really inconvenient. It isn't. Overall, I like this microwave. I™€™ve had it for 2 years now and no issues other than I don™€™t think the defrost function is very helpful. I™€™ve put frozen chicken in for 30 minutes on defrost and it still comes out completely frozen. I don™€™t use the defrost function anymore because of that. I find the microwave easy to clean and heats my food evenly. The normal microwave settings work effectively and I like the way it fits in my kitchen. It can hold large bowls/plates/etc with no issues. I do use the keep warm function often and it works great. It™€™s nice it can open with a single button touch or pull the door open from the bottom.

Purchased this microwave for our new build and had it for approximately 1 year when it started throwing an error code of F7E9 - had a technician come out and inspect it and was told that the issue was with the vent and another issue was found with the control panel. It was estimated to be over $500 to fix. Contacted kitchen aid since the warranty was only 4 months past the one year mark and got absolutely no where after speaking to several different customer service reps even after I brought up that multiple reviews shared the same error code happening and this seems like it could be a defect within the product. Will never purchase or recommend this company to anyone

Style is beautiful but it blew up within two month

We were really enjoying our new microwave until it blew up within two months of installing it. The repairman said the magnetron, transformer and the wire between those two parts went bad. Thankfully it™€™s within the manufacturer warranty period, so they are ordering new parts and will come back to install them when they come in. I just hope it doesn™€™t happen again.

A few months within the purchase of this microwave, the control panel on the door stopped working. Since it was within the manufacturer warranty, had it fix/replaced. A few months later it stopped working again but the manufacturer warranty was expired.

Terrible. F7E9 vent error. Microwave starts, vent opens, vent immediately closes and microwave stops and error code is given. Microwave lees than a month old. Repair person has been out, parts are back ordered. I™€™m left with a new microwave that doesn™€™t work.

owned it for about a year. looks great but worst microwave I've ever used. poor controls layout. no turntable and food still heats unevenly. worst part is controls. whoever designed it definitely needs to find another job. hate it.

Good Microwave, but Design Flaw with Outside Vent

This flush built-in microwave has been in use since July 2024. We are very happy with the microwave function. Things heat up quickly and evenly. The inside controls take some time to learn, but work fine. We can fit a dinner plate inside, so the depth is adequate, and we don™€™t miss the turntable. However, the venting function is not optimal. We have our microwave vented outside, so when the vent is in use, air is pulled up by both the vent underneath the microwave, and by the one that automatically opens above the microwave door. Because the microwave is flush with the adjoining cabinets, at 13™€ deep, it does not extend over the front burners on our stove--the large ones where most cooking is done. The vent above the microwave door is pulling a lot of the hot, greasy air generated while cooking. This air hits the vent and the bottom of the wood cabinets above it. Grease is accumulating in both places, causing grease stains on the vent and on the finished wood doors of the cabinets, and their knobs. As there is no way to keep the vent above the microwave door from opening when the vent function is turned on, the only remedy I can think of is to remove the charcoal filter attached to the mesh screen in the vent below the microwave. Perhaps that will increase the strength of the updraft, and less greasy air will be pulled up by the vent above the microwave door.

Uneven Cooking and Disappointing Performance

I purchased this KitchenAid over-the-range microwave about a month ago, and unfortunately, it hasn™€™t lived up to expectations. While the design looks sleek and it fits nicely in my kitchen, the performance has been a major letdown. Food does not cook evenly at all ™€" the center of dishes tends to overcook or even dry out, while the outer edges remain undercooked or cold. I™€™ve tried adjusting the cook times, power levels, and placement of food, but the issue persists. For a brand known for quality, I expected much better consistency and heating performance. It™€™s frustrating to have to stop and stir or reposition food multiple times just to get an even result. I™€™m hoping KitchenAid addresses this issue, because aside from the uneven cooking, the microwave operates quietly and looks great. Until then, I wouldn™€™t recommend this model if even heating is important to you.

Non functioning new appliances

Its been a month since an entire kitchen appliance package was delivered to our home. Fridge, microwave, dishwasher and range. Purchased new from a big box store. Within that first month, 2 of the appliances (fridge and microwave) have required repair service. The fridge only produced ice one time and stopped. After a parts delay, it took nearly 2 weeks to get the ice maker repaired. Then the microwave began giving an error message and the microwave was not functional at all. Again we were left without the use of an appliance. In a month's time, 2 of the 4 appliances have already failed. Aside from the inconvenience of not having 2 fully functional appliances (which should be expected when purchasing new appliances), the customer service was of no assistance. When i tried to explain my frustration over the non-functioning ice maker, the customer service rep replied with the fact that she has gone with no refrigerator in the past. Basically insinuating that i should not be upset about brand new appliances not functioning as they should. Although we paid "new appliance" prices, we now have 2 refurbished appliances. This is the first and last time we will purchase Kitchenaid appliances.
